Algae Lab Analyzer
The fluorescence of algae via excitation with visible light mainly depends on the chlorophyll-a, a pigent wide-spread in the plant world. The presence of other pigments is typical for different algae classes.
The indicator for cyanotoxins as well as flavours and odorous substances The bbe PhycoLabAnalyser* (PhycoLA) offers the simultaneous determination of chlorophyll concentrations, transmission, and – as an option – the photosynthetic activity of microalgae in a 25 ml glass cuvette.
Online determination of algae classes, chlorophyll and phycocyanin concentrations as well as photosynthetic activity. The bbe PhycoSens* is deployed in measuring stations and laboratories in which online measurement of water quality is required for rivers, reservoirs, dams and lakes as well as in drinking water production.
On-line Toximeters and Biomonitors
The bbe DaphTox II observes daphnids, commonly known as “water fleas”, under the influence of constantly running sample water. Based on the Extended Dynamic Daphnia Test, bbe developed a new sensitive method to detect hazardous compounds in water from rivers (source-water protection), plants, distribution systems and production drains to preserve human health and to monitor water.
Algae Toximeter II
The bbe Algae Toximeter continuously monitors water for the presence of toxic substances. Standardized algae are mixed with the sample water and the instrument detects the photosynthetic activity of the algae. Damage to the algae, caused e.g. by herbicides, causes a reduction in algae activity and activates an alarm above a pre-defined threshold.
The bbe Fish Toximeter observes the behavior of fish in a tank under the influence of a stream of “sample” water with the aid of a camera and continuous computer-assisted image analysis. This uncomplicated but highly sensitive instrument is designed to detect toxic substances in e.g. rivers, reservoirs, water supply systems, water treatment plant intakes and sewers.
TheToxProtect 64 is an automated monitoring system to protect a drinking water supply from accidental or malicious contamination due to harmful substances. The characteristic of these threats is a relatively high concentration of dangerous substances that occurs suddenly.
The AlgaeTorch is lightweight, field portable and designed to measure total chlorophyll and blue-green algae (cyanobacteria). The pigments of the algae are spectrally excited subsequently by three colored LEDs at a high frequency. In response, the algae emit red fluorescence light and the intensity of this light is used for calculation of the different algae types (i.e. blue-greens and total micro-algae).
The BenthoTorch is lightweight, field portable and designed to measure benthic algae in real time and in situ by utilizing fluorometric characteristics of the different algal pigments in the intact cell. No sample preparation is required. Results are displayed and stored in the internal memory and can easily be transferred to a PC via the USB port for further analysis.
The FluoroProbe quickly and reliably determines chlorophyll concentration down to depths of 100 meters making it an ideal instrument for depth profiling.
